Have a fantastic Monday :)
Well the countdown to Thanksgiving has started! We are starting all of our cooking tomorrow! So since Thanksgiving is just days away, here is a song about just thanking God, because he is the source of everything we are grateful for! It's called We Give You Thanks by All Sons & Daughters. Have a fantastic Monday :)

We’re constantly striving in this world to be better. And there’s a difference between striving to be great for this world and striving to be better for eternity. This world is temporary. Everything in this world is temporary. We try to validate ourselves by making more money, or driving a new car, or wearing the newest clothes. Why? Is our Jesus not enough? I’m guilty of this too. I try to find happiness in material things. I try to find love in people who can’t satisfy the Love I’m looking for. God is where we need to find our happiness. I’m not saying that clothes can’t make you happy, because they make me happy. But how long do these things keep you happy? Temporarily. It’s not permanent. God is permanent. His love is permanent. This permanent happiness is more like joy. Happiness is not the same thing as joy. Simcha is the Hebrew word for joy. Joy is finding delight in life. Joy is knowing that when life gets hard, you are never alone. Joy is eternal. And you don’t receive joy by buying temporary happiness. Joy comes with recognizing that Jesus is our Lord and Savior and knowing that He died on that cross so your sins can be forgiven. Joy is what you feel every day knowing that there is an amazing grace. ~Stephanie “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.”
~Psalm 16:11 Happy Monday! It's a beautiful yet hectic time of year. Personally, my semester is coming to a close which means I'm practically running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. Every time I think I've finished something or get a chance to breathe, something else comes up. The holidays are also fast approaching. Thanksgiving is next week!!! One of the most important things I'm thankful for is God and His grace. It's something we should be thankful for every day. But sometimes in our daily routine we forget. So take a minute today and just be thankful for God, His grace, and at least one other thing. Today's song is How Great Thou Art. Now, there are many variations of this hymn. So if you don't like the particular version I posted I encourage you to find one you love! This song has a very special place in my heart. So I researched the story of the hymn. Mr. Carl Gustaf Boberg (1859-1940) was a Swedish pastor and one day was enjoying a nice walk when a thunderstorm suddenly appeared out of no where. After the storm was over, Mr. Boberg looked out over a bay and heard a church bell in the distance. And thus, How Great Thou Art was born. He wrote a poem titled O Store Gud (O Great God) and published it in 1891 in Witness of the Truth, the weekly newspaper that Boberg edited. O Lord, my God, When I in awesome wonder, consider all the worlds Thy hands hath made. . . "Come close, listen to the story about a love more faithful than the morning..." Happy Monday, Readers! I hope you don't have too bad a case of the Mondays. Recently, my bible study finished the book of Matthew and last night I finished the Gospel as part as my bible in a year. So for today's song I just really wanted a song that just embodied the biggest message of the bible. True Love by Phil Wickham does that. Sure, it's an older song but the lyrics still ring true. ~Stephanie p.s. check out Emily's post below :) Here are just some of those lyrics: The earth was shaking in the dark All creation felt the Father's broken heart Tears were filling Heaven's eyes The day that true love died We were free and made alive The day that true love died The Father gave His only Son just to save us Now Jesus is alive, Jesus is alive Hi readers! Today I just have some food for thought. While driving home tonight I heard a song by MercyMe called "Bring the Rain." And usually I just sing to these songs because I know all the words, but tonight I just turned it up and listened. I have to applaud MercyMe for writing such beautiful lyrics! "And I know they'll be days when this life brings me pain, but if that's what it takes to praise you, Jesus bring the rain!" I was awe-stricken as my mind comprehended each word. "But if that's what it takes to praise you.." What if I lived like this? Simply placing Gods will over mine. Simply pushing his glory over my fame and attention. I would love to idealize my faith to say that I do all of this, but the words hit me so hard. So maybe this will challenge us as Christians to change our prayers from "God take this bad stuff" to "God show me how to use this to honor you!" I hope this did something for you like it did for me! Have a wonderful start to your week!! -Emily Happy Monday, readers! It's our first post for November! Today's song is a song I heard in church yesterday! I had never heard it before and I just soaked in the lyrics of the song. It's called Come Home Running by Chris Tomlin. I think sometimes our heart strays and we don't turn to God but that is the exact opposite of what he wants us to do. So today go home running, just as you are. ~Stephanie "Oh heart of mine, come back home You've been too long out on your own And He's been there all along Watching for you down the road" |
